I echo the Big Blue Ox..careful here!...and a graphic airbrushed on??....a graphic thats a vinyl stick-on??? Ghost vinyl ones are OK until up close, cheapens the look of the vehicle. But- More info please...:blur:

Full wrap vinyl or just the flames. It would seem to me that the full wrap would look better since there would be no edge? I have not seen either so I am just curious.

 

I won't do vinyl, only paint. but if ya don't like it vinyl comes off fairly easy

True, but a lot of those vinyl graphics on race cars are replaced frequently. If you take care of them, they might be a long-term option.

I prefer painted flames. I like the commitment.

A few things to think about when you're contemplating flames or graphics.....

Vinyl will remove easily, but if they've been on a while in the sun, the OEM paint will be darker under them.

Painted flames and graphics are individual tastes, and are not an "investment". Generally, they will not add to the value of your R; conversely, they may decrease the value upon sale of the truck. Stock paint will almost always bring more on resale in the future.

If you drive your R, you will get rock chips that will need to be repaired over time, requiring sanding and new clear coat in those areas, not cheap.

My $ .02.

Oh, and I'm a big fan of custom paint! MICKEYS has one of the coolest custom paint jobs I've seen.

 

Personally don,t like flames.I have vinyl racing stripes on my red,looks tough.They are on ebay right now for a very reasonable cost.Pick your color.A DIY(do it yourself)Go on the gallery forum to look at members photos of flames and stripes.

Paint the way to go

The reason is vinyl grafics after years also crackes I had that problem on grafic vinyl on my S10 truck and I had to remove them with a eraser and then wet sand the spots to get the marks off the paint. It was no fun :banghead

 

Preference is yours!

Everyone on here has done what he or she wants to do that makes their SSR theirs. If it is rally stripes, flames or just some bling. We can say that is the way we want our SSR to look for us. We first started knowing that we liked the Rally Stripes because of the retro feel. So we went with the vinyl because if we wanted to change it we could and not have the big money into it. The vinyl went on and we loved the look and left it on for four years. So...last year we found the look and color that we wanted in the Rally Stripes and went ahead and had the truck painted this Spring. It's OUR truck and it looks the way that we love, so do what you want to do and you can say that it is your truck and it is the way that you love.

if the graphic guy wants to spend his time tooling around with some ideas, let him. Make him do up a few. My decals have been on for 5 years and are still looking like new, other than the chips from road rash on the front end. I still love the look.

 

Check out the Maggie Valley Pictures, there was an SSR from AZ that had the front flamed. And also a few that had what I would call SOFT FLAMES.

The AZ truck was Bigwave's. Awesome flame job, and the tailgate is perfect.
